Triaxial Probe Holders
Excellent for all general purpose probing, and for low current measurements into the low fempto amps. Due to the triax design with typical SMU's GUARDING techniques, very low leakage settle times and low GUARDED capacitance is found with this design.
The 74J series of triax probe holder is designed to provide a cost effective method of allowing most general purpose micro probing systems to measure low currents to femto amps. The Probe holder is guarded to within .2” of end of holder. The gold plated pin jack will accept 19-20 mil diameter shank probes (all 72 series probes). Hewlett Packard engineers have confirmed this probe holder when used with the HP 4156A can achieve low current measurements to <10fa when used under the proper test criteria. Configurations are available for all brands and models of probe stations, including custom and mixed brand setups. The 74J-BT series of probe holders are made from gold plated S/S support arm, and mounted onto the micropositioner via an Ultem 1000 isolator. The OD of the arm is 0.134”, with the tube length dependant on the style and configuration. Typical leakage is <50fa @ 50 VDC. Capacitance: <1pf. In applications that require a stronger mechanical clamping of the probe, APT offers a probe collet design, (electrical specifications will degrade slightly with this design). This probe holder has also been successfully used with thermal chucks (300 deg. C for extended periods >24 hours) with excellent test performance. The ability to use commonly available disposable probes with a wide range of tip radii allows the configuration to change as the test set-up demands. Noise levels are kept to a minimum (<50fa), and in applications where oscillation is a concern; custom configurations allow the use of coax replaceable probes to guard to within 100 mils of the DUT.
